A year ago I go to a party with this girl and i meet some of her friends.
She was the kind of a girl who didn’t like going to things alone and I’m all for helping a friend out.
So, i meet a friend of her’s and he’s this 6′6″ guy wearing a Jason Varitek Jersey
- Sidenote: Jason Varitek is a CATCHER for the Boston Red Sox baseball team
Side-joke within the joke
- The girl I was with was wearing a denim button up top with no sleeves and one of those long white dress/skirt things – looked good I thought
- I made a comment to her that the top she was wearing was a husband beater – hey, if there are wife-beater shirts there have to be husband-beater shirts….RIGHT? AM I RIGHT PEOPLE?
Ok – back to my story – so, the guy with the Jason Varitek Jersey – you know – the proverbial team captain of the red sox and the starting catcher on the team.
Well, i come to find out he’s a bit of a homo-phobe. And, well….I find that funny because, well…it just shows me someone who is not comfortable with who they are – and, if needed, I exploit it….but know, i only exploit it if i have to and, on this night….I had to.
So….he makes some comment that i didn’t think was the greatest so I said, in front of all his friends “Eveyone knows you’re a catcher….I mean look – you’re wearing a Jason Varitek jersey. You’re practically SCREAMING to the world that you’re always the catcher……..Right?
So – maybe a comment that I should have held back on and, I don’t really know if it was the most appropriate…..but…..it is what it is. And, i’ve learned to hold back over time, but sometimes – I can’t. I literally can’t because – I DON’T WANT TO.
Later on, I’ll have to tell you about my annual MACYs Window Display joke I would do with my friend Jim. Someone will have to remind me if i forget.
