but, gotta tell you….just didnt feel like writing.

This past Friday I went to a show at a club in Arlington and saw 3 bands play.  The bands are important, but they’re not for this blog, so I wont mention them by name, nor the club – and, people have some things set up so that when their name appears somewhere….they know it….and I dont need them to know this.

While at the show I saw 2 people out of the probably 180-200 that caught my eye….I kinda had a freeze and a rush of memories fly into my head.

Person #1 – Some girl wearing a black and white checkered flannal shirt.

In 1994, I volunteered at a church and worked with High School and College aged kids.  I ended up giving a talk to the kids about the road I’ve walked.

Mind you, the road I’ve walked is NOTHING compared to most everyone…but you know what….we all have our road…sometimes we share it and sometimes we go it alone.

But a girl named Karen was on that wknd and she wore this black and white checkered flannel….I wont forget her for some reason b/c she….well….she was 17 for one so that was a no-no considering I was about 8 yrs older I guess at that time….but I remember her hair and her eyes….her brown eyes.

I remembered seeing her 2 maybe 3 times after that weekend and never since – just by random bump-ins.

And, the other girl – kinda dressed like Reese Witherspoon in the promo photos for Legally Blonde – looked like a girl named Lori I used to work with at the restaurant.  Lori, no real personal connection with.

Karen – yes.  I wonder what she’s up to these days.

Let’s face it – those policing the people (us) are just as fallible as the athletes….looking for just the right words….even a Pulitzer prize winner can have a writer’s block and have an urge to use someone else’s words.

OR

Said writer has someone else doing the writing for her.

Either way, journalists across the world should be upset. 

And, if I’m an athlete, do I lump all journalists into this category – you know – guilty until proven innocent.   Or, well if a Pulitzer Prize winner is doing it….you MUST be doing it to.

Those higher-than-thou journalists would never think of putting these things together.

Would they?

I was at a bar last night to see a band play – and their music is great – they’re E. Joseph and the Phantom Heart.

But , funny thing…..I dont like the crowds much anymore in settings like a bar.

The Girls are wearing tops that flash a lot of their cleavage and when guys start staring they do the “i’m uncomfortable with you staring at my breasts thing and pull their top up – adding more comedy to the episode.

I’ve learned – or re-learned – where the term a**hat comes from….this guy near me was wearing a baseball hat – turned a little to the side and was doing this weird sense of humor with the girls in his posse – making attempts to either ‘put the moves’ on them or just esablish himself as the comic king of Baltimore.

He wasn’t trying to impress me or make me laugh…..but…..i’m wondering if this is the way it is for “the 40 year old guy.”

So – here’s a guy who had a lot of heat turned onto him and his only re-course was suicide.

It’s a temptation that people cant run away from and, in the end, everyone will find out what you did.

Some guy in Indianapolis swindled people out of money, had an affair, his wife filed for divorce, he flew his plane, jumped out of it….it crashed….he went to a place where his motorcycle just “happened to be stored”…..got on it…..went to a campground…..cut open one of his wrists – ALL BECAUSE HE GOT CAUGHT BEING A SWINDLER!

It seems like yesterday you were shagging someone – OTHER THAN YOUR WIFE – and got caught….and resigned from office.

Hmmmmmmmmmm…..just curious, but, did you take a vow to your wife in front of God and your friends?  You know – to be faithful and all that stuff?  You know – that was YOU who did that.  I mean, if you would do that to the woman you loved at one time and swore to God and your friends of your commitment and faithfulness – who’s to say you wont do it again – but to our United States Of America.

Our President has taken an oath and he has advisors all over the place to give him the various nuances of issues and possible decisions/actions taken.

Hey – if our President wants to make changes and one of them is doing something that means greeting as we do – then, yeh – I’m for it.  Kris Kringle gave the winter warlock a toy and he went from bad to good….Maybe doing something differently is a way to get change to happen.

So – to all the nay-sayers out there – Our President is forcing change throughout the nation and the world.  And, we must be the change we want to see in others.

I don’t see this as a sign of weakness – I see it as a sign of strenght – and possibly forcing change on dictators……and let’s not forget that we’re torturing people at Gitmo.  I’m sorry – waterboarding them.

I pray for our troops regularly and pray that they come home safely and with their friends and comrades.

So – this jack___ is going on talk shows and the such to kind of flush out all the nonsense with his “daliances” so that when it comes time to run for the office of Attorney General he can say, “i’ve already gone on record with that…done talk shows and talked about it….been flogged….and, I’ve moved on.”

Forgive and Forget.

This is different.

He screwed up – used his political office for certain powers and while he can be forgiven as a person, he cannot be forgiven politically…..but once again….we have someone who thought that he had an almighty power that he could use at will.

And, lest we forget the fact that he had State Troopers spying on some Republican guy too.

I mean – come on…..can this be serious?

 

The Minor Things…

Made a new friend recently.

While speaking he shared about the loss of his son soon after birth with someone he’d met along the way.

When we meet someone along the way it can go either way – remembered or not….but that person can leave a mark on us – good or bad.

Person responded to the loss of his son with….

          Well….it’s the minor things in life that make us stronger.

People tell me things…and, i listen.  Do you listen?  The best speakers are the ones who know how to not speak.

I moaned and groaned somewhere below about the news and i’m here to do it again.

On FOX news – they were talking about how the pie-rates (Spelling on purpose) off the coast of Sew-Mah-Lee-Uh (spelling on purpose) got a score of alcohol for their efforts.

Kinda made them sound heroic.

What a waste.  These news programs.

What a waste.

So – Milt Rahmney – I mean – you’re the front runner for the Repubican Party right now.

Hmmmmm………Gotta say………He became a Pro-Life candidate only when it was convenient for him to do so…..like seek the Nod for President of the United States Of America.

And let’s not forget his dumb arse comment “I’ve been a hunter pretty much all my life.”  -   WHAT?!  

This TOOL is a person who does things out of convenience.

I will NEVER vote for him.
